Other Mothers Franchise Info
With more than 40 million children under the age of 13 in the US, the need for quality children's products at affordable prices is HUGE and growing rapidly! The market for children's clothing, toys, and equipment is OVER $200 BILLION dollars and growing. It is even GREATER THAN THE MARKET FOR FAST FOOD!
According to census data, every year the number of children under the age of 5 grows by at least 200,000 children. The Resale sector is the FASTEST GROWING SECTOR in the retail market.
Other Mothers offers a clothing exchange to the public that specializes in quality used children's, teen's, women's, and maternity clothing along with baby furniture, toys and accessories. In addition, Other Mothers stores also carry some new items. With the rapidly rising costs of raising a family, and the children that quickly outgrow their clothes and items before they show any wear, today's consumer enjoys a bargain.
Other Mothers sets itself apart by offering an environment, product selection, the opportunity to recycle their gently-loved items for credit or cash, and an overall experience that appeals to customers who otherwise would not shop in a thrift store. The store also appeals to the environmentally conscious that like the idea of recycling.
The original Other Mothers stores were smaller and had more of a co-op feeling, with mom's helping other moms. Now, it is the larger store format (4000-6000 square feet) in nicer shopping centers that have enough room to sell in high volume with low prices that works best for both the store owner and the customer. 2012 sees the launch of the new business system. We have improved the store systems with new cameras, computerized point of sale systems (POS), new indoor signage, improved training and processing.
The new program is designed to be particularly attractive and user friendly for Multi-Unit Investors and for store owners that prefer to be part time or semi-absentee.
We have been fine-tuning our system to allow the owner of the business not to necessarily be the main operator of the business. Using a combination of standardized buying and selling of items, an excellent employee training and incentive program, a good camera system, and specialized point of sale (POS) system, our owners are able to balance their ownership with other things they may have going on in their lives. Other Mothers has a proven track record of success for more than 30 years, and does not require that the owner be a constant presence in their own business. This is a business that is right for the times and can be an excellent investment.
